What it does not do
Said plainly, so you know before you ask, and before you promise anything to a customer.
- No AI of any kind. No face recognition, no automatic tagging, no automatic captions. This was a deliberate decision, not an oversight.
- No subscriptions. Plans are bought once.
- No automatic custom domains or SSL. See Custom domains.
- No video conversion. Videos are stored and played as they arrive.
- No live updates over websockets. Screens check for new items on a timer instead, because shared hosting cannot keep a connection open.
- No mobile apps. Guests use their phone browser, which is the point.
- No wedding planning features. No RSVP, no seating chart, no gift registry. Guests can send the host money with guest donations, but there is no list of gifts to choose from.
- No automatic payouts. Gifts and booking payments are paid into your own Stripe or PayPal account, and you send each payout to the host yourself.
- No ticket system or chat of our own. The Help link and the chat widget point to the help desk and chat service you already use. See Host support.
- No video conversion on the server. The video download is made in the host's browser, and guests' own videos are not in it.
- Not a full Perfex CRM version. GuestLens connects to Perfex CRM through a module and the API. See Perfex CRM connector.
- No maps and no place names. A location is shown as map coordinates with a link to OpenStreetMap. Turning coordinates into an address needs an outside service, and GuestLens does not call one.
- No location for videos, and no location written into any file.
- No guest accounts. Guests never sign up.
- No photo editing, filters, or stickers.
- No PostgreSQL. MySQL, MariaDB, or SQLite only.
- No tool to move from SQLite to MySQL. Choose MySQL at the start if you expect to grow.
- No automatic move of files between storages. Old files stay where they were saved.
- One language per site. GuestLens ships in English and you can translate it (see Translate GuestLens), but the whole site uses one language at a time. Guests cannot switch language. Right-to-left layouts are not tested.
