Troubleshooting
Uploads stay on "Processing"
Cron is not running. See The cron job. System health shows when it last ran. When cron starts, the waiting uploads finish by themselves. Nobody needs to upload again. To finish them right now, press Run the queue now in System health.
A guest says their upload failed
Ask them to open the event link again on the same phone. An unfinished upload continues by itself. If it still fails, check the event's storage meter on its dashboard: a full event stops taking files. Also check that the guest is not blocked under the event's guest list.
The ZIP download never finishes
Cron again. A large archive is built one batch at a time, one batch per cron run. On a very large event this takes several minutes, and the progress bar moves as it goes.
A host paid but did not get their plan
Wait ten minutes. Cron asks Stripe and PayPal directly about every payment that is still waiting. If it is still wrong after that, open the purchase under Payments and look at the gateway reference. Check that the webhook URL and signing secret are set. You can also give the plan by hand from the host's page. See Payments.
Every page says Not Found
The address in your browser does not match APP_URL in .env. GuestLens
only answers on that address (with or without www) and on hostnames your hosts set
up for their events. If you moved the site to a new domain, change APP_URL to match.
Emails do not arrive
Open Settings and send a test email. If it fails, the screen shows what the
mail server said. Check that the From address is on your own domain, because most providers
refuse anything else. Until email is set up, each email is written to
storage/logs/mail.log instead, so you can still read a password reset link there.
The QR code will not scan
Print it larger, at least 2 cm (about one inch) across. Do not print it on a dark background. If you put a logo in the middle, try it without. Always scan a real print before the event.
Images are broken icons
The link from public/storage is missing. System health has a check called
Public file link. If your host has symbolic links turned off, that check
explains what to do instead.
"Database is locked" in the logs
This only happens on SQLite. Too many guests tried to save at the same moment, and some waited longer than five seconds. Their phones retry by themselves, so most uploads still arrive. If it happens at every event, your events have outgrown SQLite: install GuestLens again on MySQL or MariaDB for new events. If it happens even on a quiet site, your host may keep files on a network drive. Ask them.
"Page expired" when submitting a form
The page was open too long. Reload it and try again. If it happens every time, your sessions
cannot be saved: check that storage/framework/sessions can be written to, and that
APP_URL matches the address in your browser exactly (including
https://).
Everything is a blank white page, or "Server Error"
Set APP_DEBUG=true in .env, reload, and read the error. Set it back to
false afterwards, because the error page can show private details. The error is
also written to storage/logs.
The installer shows the requirements page again and again
Your session cannot be saved, so each step forgets the one before. Make sure the
storage folder and everything inside it can be written to (permission
755 or 775).
The slideshow went black
Check the TV's own screen sleep setting. GuestLens asks the browser to keep the screen awake, but some TV browsers ignore that. A laptop plugged into the TV is more reliable than a smart TV browser.
Nobody can sign in after turning on the captcha
The site key is wrong, or it does not allow your domain, so the captcha box cannot draw. Add
CAPTCHA_OFF=true to .env, sign in, fix the keys, then remove the line.
See Locked out by a wrong key.
A photo book or offline album stays at 0%
Both are made in the background, so cron must run. See The cron job. When cron runs, the work goes on from where it stopped.
The video download stops, or the browser says it cannot make a video
The video is made in the host's own browser. Use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on a computer, keep the page open until it is done, and try 720p for a long gallery. See Which browser to use.
A host has no Bookings item in the sidebar
Bookings need the site switch in Admin, Bookings and a paid plan that includes bookings and has not expired. A plan bought before version 3.0 does not include them. See Turn bookings on.
Still stuck?
Contact support through the CodeCanyon item page. Tell us your PHP version, your database, what
you did, and what you saw. A screenshot of System health and the last lines of the newest file in
storage/logs help us answer in one reply.
